Our design/build process has two phases. In the preliminary design stage, we get to know you and your needs, ideas, and concerns. We get a feel for your style, then get to work. We develop schematic designs and project specifications, and then, once the design has been developed and agreed upon, we determine preliminary costing and product selections. After the preliminary design phase the construction contract is written up and the project is scheduled for production.

"To say that Wayne, Roy, and the entire Omega team helped bring a 10-year plan into reality better than we could have hoped is underselling their impact. They were our trusted partners in realizing the vision we had for our family home.


For context, we bought our home knowing we wanted to remodel extensively. We loved the property and neighborhood, but the existing house wasn't optimized for our needs nor aesthetics. After living here for 8 years, planning, pondering, and saving, we spent months creating construction plans that met our needs, aesthetics, and budget.


Ours was fairly involved project, including extending the foundation, moving walls / plumbing, entire kitchen redo, changing floors throughout the house, and numerous updates / fixes / changes.


When it came to selecting a contractor, we did a huge amount of due diligence, including obtaining dozens of referrals, visiting past jobs, and conducting multiple interviews.


We winnowed the list to 3 firms, and ultimately selected Omega because we believed they'd complete the work on time, with a high quality of workmanship, and within budget (accounting for expected change orders).We also perceived Wayne and Roy wanted to work with us and would treat our project as if they were working on their own home. Each of these beliefs held true through to the end of our project.


Broadly, we learned that Omega is a family business run by two brothers, each with an important but separate set of functions. Wayne is the 'customer service' face of the company; he's who you'll interact with on weekly bill reconciliations and to help navigate challenges that invariably crop up. Roy handles everything to do with the construction process, including worker + sub-contractor oversight, material selection and design recommendations, and all scheduling (materials, workers, job schedules, etc.). Had not previously appreciated the value in having these roles separated, but after our experience working with Omega we're believers in the benefits of a bifurcated customer service-construction management model.


Our work started with Omega scheduling a meeting at our home with each of the forepersons that would be on our job site each day, and principals from each of their primary sub-contractors. We together went through the drawings and walked around the entire house talking through the work that would be done.


Mindful of our time constraints (a family event 7 months out that we wanted to host at our home), Roy was particularly careful to ensure that our work progressed consistently every week. Even when we encountered supply chain challenges, Roy and his team were true partners in helping to problem solve.


Every day there was at least one lead foreperson at our home overseeing the team's work, and both the Omega team - which is comprised of some dedicated and very talented individuals - and each of their subs were terrific. To a person, everyone was committed to the highest quality of work. No shortcuts were taken, to the point that Omega offered to 'eat' some unanticipated costs just to ensure we'd be happy with the final product. (nb. We didn't let them do that, but I did believe in the sincerity of their offers.)


This last comment speaks to a key factor that added immeasurable value to our working relationship and overall experience: Wayne and Roy were always fair and trustworthy. We had open communication throughout, and were always transparent with one another. Expectations about change orders were set upfront, and there was not a step taken without our awareness, understanding, and sign off; nor would Omega let us avoid something important that they felt we'd later regret. Both we and they were always fair with one another in addressing unforeseen challenges / costs, and as a consequence I'm able to state without reservation that I have the highest degree of trust in Wayne, Roy, and their entire team. Plus, they're just lovely people!


Cannot more highly recommend Omega to anyone looking to hire a contractor."
